Nana’s Chilli Sin Carne Recipe (No Meat) 2020

Karen is, without a doubt, the best home cook I know. She can do anything from raw to vegan, to Indian, Mexican, etc. She can whip up a meal from absolutely nothing. Karen is affectionately known as Nana to the grandkids.

This Chilli Sin Carne is made using Quorn mince. Honestly – your family won’t be able to tell the difference. Have a go at it, and sneakily reduce their meat intake!

It is so simple to do as well. Give it a go

(if for 2, freeze half)

Chilli Sin Carne Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Celery
  • 1 Garlic
  • 5 or 6 chopped mushrooms
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1 cayenne pepper
  • Tin chopped tomatoes
  • Half pack Chilli seasoning (if you don’t have this, use a sprinkling of
  • cayenne pepper according to taste
  • Tspn Cumin powder
  • Tin kidney beans
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Basmati rice (If you don’t have rice to hand, use pasta. Not quite the same, but needs must…)

If you don’t have any pasta, some nice chunky bread goes with the chili.

Chilli Sin Carne Recipe Preparation

  • Chop carrot, onion, celery
  • Saute 5 mins in a saucepan with a little oil
  • Add the tin of tomatoes
  • Half a can of water
  • Stir on heat
  • Put a pan of salted water on for Basmati rice
  • Add chopped mushrooms
  • Add garlic 
  • Add chili seasoning and cumin, and cayenne pepper Stir
  • Add handful Quorn from frozen
  • Add passata if necessary
  • Add salt and pepper to taste
  • Add the tin kidney beans, and stir through

This can stay warm whilst you are cooking the rice/pasta
