Hey, if you are a food lover and want to eat some delicious food. Then This Really Tasty Savoury Mince recipe is an all-time family favorite. Best Savoury Mince Recipe for you.
The best thing to do with this is to make three times the quantity you need so that you only have to cook this once, to get three different meals. i.e., the day you cook this you have a meal of savoury mince. Then put the rest into two different containers and freeze the two meals to be used at a later date.
You can use these either as savoury mince again, or you could make some pastry (see recipe) and make a pie with the meat in one of the containers, and for the other meal on a different day, add some curry powder and serve with rice for a mince curry. Or, of course, use as it is as a lovely cottage pie with mashed potato on the top.
This saves time and money. I have budgeted for this amount of mince on the shopping list.
Savoury Mince Recipe Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of oil
- 2 large onions or 4 medium finely chopped
- 1.4 kg (3lb) mince
- 2 cloves of garlic chopped
- 1 tablespoon of dried mixed herbs
- Tablespoon of Worcester sauce
- 2 tablespoons Bisto or Cornflour
- 2 pints/1.5 liters water/stock
- Salt and pepper to taste
Savoury Mince Recipe Method:
Heat the oil in a large heavy-based saucepan. Fry the chopped onion in the oil until transparent and soft but not brown. Then add the mince and brown in the oil with the onions. Once the meat is brown all over add the tablespoon of Worcester sauce. In a jug mix the Cornflour (or Bisto if using) with a little cold water to mix and then top this up to the 2 pints (1.5 liters) with water or stock.
Mix together making sure you bring all of the Cornflour or Bisto up from the bottom of the jug. Remove the mince from the heat and add the gravy mix directly into the saucepan and stir. Replace the saucepan on the heat and stir until the mixture boils and the sauce/gravy thickens. Add the chopped garlic and the dried mixed herbs. Turn the heat down to a simmer and cover the saucepan with a lid. Leave to simmer for a 1 hour or until tender.
Serve with boiled or mashed potatoes, carrots, and a green vegetable.
