Hey, if you are a food lover and want to eat some delicious food. Then This toad in the hole recipe is an all-time family favorite. … Toad in the Hole Recipe for you.
This really is a family favorite in most households. It certainly has been a firm favorite in my home, for quite a few years! Adults and children alike are first to the table when sausages are on the menu.
This toad in the hole is an easy dish to prepare and cook. Turn your oven onto preheat to 210ºC 425ºF or Gas mark 7
Ingredients of Toad in the Hole Recipe:
- 8oz plain flour (must be plain flour for Yorkshire pudding)
- Half a level teaspoon of salt
- 2 Eggs
- 1-pint milk and water (half a pint of each)
- 1lb of sausages
Toad in the Hole Recipe Method:
Sift the flour and the salt into a large bowl; add the egg and a quarter of the liquid. Gradually incorporate the flour into the liquid in the bowl drawing the flour into the middle of the bowl from the sides.
As the mixture becomes drier and harder to work, add more liquid and repeat until all the flour is incorporated and there are no lumps. Beat the batter and as you beat, the sound of the batter should sound like the waves of the sea hitting the rocks. (well, sort of) The batter should be thin and liquid.
Place the sausages into a roasting tin and place in the preheated oven towards the top of the oven. Cook the sausages for 10 minutes until the fat is running from them and the escaped fat has reached a high temperature.
Remove the tin from the oven and place over the heat on the top of the oven (turn the burner on to retain the heat of the fat in the tin) Quickly pour the batter into the tin making sure the floor of the tin is covered all around the sausages and then replace the full tin back into the oven at the top. Leave to cook for 35-40 minutes until the batter is well risen and golden brown.
Serve with mini roasties with garlic and rosemary, peas and carrots.Would you like my free book of recipes? Click here to access Cooking on a Budget
